I agree with everything you say, but in this particular case these already fraught issues are complicated by the fact that there are two unreliable and inconsistent narrators. While that is often the case, it seems to be pretty extreme here and it creates doubt - not because we don’t believe or validate the victim but because who is villain and who is victim is a moving target here.
