I completely agree with you. My point was not that societally they are mutually exclusive, but that for me personally they felt mutually exclusive, given my individual circumstances (a husband who worked and traveled all the time and was not very present, and the career that I myself wanted which required the same of me) and my personal feelings. I know many women, including my mom, who had the career and the family. It's not easy, but it absolutely can be done - I just could not find a way to do it for myself.
