No, I use my real name. I grappled with it and decided I would either write and publish openly using my own name or not publish at all. I had very honest conversations with each of my kids - one was scandalized and two were of the “live your life mom” mindset. The one who was scandalized has adjusted. She understands my writing about sex is not tawdry or reductive. It’s more personal than what she’s comfortable with but she accepts it’s my decision. I think now she would say it embarrasses her while at the same time makes her proud. Ultimately I’m glad I chose to do it.
